About The Role

Do you have a background in eCommerce, digital marketing or merchandising? Do you love thinking about why customers buy? The APMEX Marketing team is looking for an enthusiastic and data-driven site merchandiser to help grow our website. This person will join a team of eCommerce professionals focused on building a world-class customer experience for Precious Metals investors. APMEX is rapidly growing and this is an excellent opportunity for an individual to make a significant impact.

The successful eCommerce Operations Manager will combine an understanding of what drives eCommerce sales with a passion for user experience to improve APMEX’s onsite merchandising strategy. He/she will drive improvements to the APMEX site experience in different categories through the development and execution of strategic cross-functional projects, working with IT, Product Management, Creative Services, Brand and Marketing.

The ideal candidate is fast-paced, enthusiastic and customer-focused with great judgment and creative problem-solving skills. He/she has demonstrated skill with technical tools & processes through website management, digital marketing, Google Analytics, data analysis or other similar experience. He/she is passionate about customer behavior and about the eCommerce shopping experience. He/she is extremely organized and comfortable moving quickly while managing multiple cross-functional projects at once. He/she is a skilled personnel manager able to provide strong direction, remove roadblocks and coach employees to success. He/she must be able to work at both a strategic level (generating innovative ideas for growth) and at a tactical level (executing updates, analyzing site and customer data, and solving problems).


A Day in the life of an eCommerce Operations Manager:


Execution lead on day-to-day promotional operations:

  • Develop and manage operational calendars with cross-departmental functions, including daily and weekly activities as well as promotional efforts, between Marketing and Merchandising teams across APMEX’s portfolio of brands
  • Management and execution of Merchandising/Marketing weekly meetings in alignment with promotional calendar
  • Management of promotional operations and product launches through management software.
  • Coordination with eCommerce Operations Specialist in cross-departmental relations advocating promotional requirements meet process and fulfillment guidelines
  • Execution of email campaigns in alignment with promotional calendar with cross-departmental communication alignment from Merchandising, IT, Business Intelligence, and UX teams
  • Planning and execution of special flash sale campaigns with coordination from experienced team members
  • Develop, implement and execute on the Marketing plan to capitalize on inventory needs. Work with other divisions to maximize eCommerce ready-inventory opportunities


Manage day-to-day relationships advocating for existing APMEX eCommerce in alignment with Brand guidelines:

  • Execution, planning, and management of public relation materials including press releases, blog postings, and APMEX social media communications or channels in B2B and B2C capacities
  • Responsible for future APMEX branding efforts and brand ambassador in B2C relations

Principal oversight for product publishing, processes and optimization:

  • Manage data accuracy across APMEX products in alignment with standard practices set by merchandising teams in relation to product information and analytics
  • Develop product assortment plans while ensuring site is merchandised according to APMEX standards, optimizing products for high conversion and brand consistency
  • Optimize strategies for customer need regarding internal search, category structure and site navigation
  • Optimize strategies for customer needs regarding internal search, category structure and site navigation, while also evaluating and managing existing Product Publishing service level agreements based on margin and company needs
  • Data-tracking for new product process and existing poduct maintenance regarding best practices for product descriptions, attributes, and other content




Education: BA/BS in Marketing, Business Administration, Analytics or related field preferred


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • Experience with eCommerce/digital projects and the delivery of solutions with both creative and technical components
  • Knowledge of retail brands, products and trends as well as a firm understanding of the direct-to-consumer eCommerce business
  • Self-starter with ability to lead and function independently with proven ability to work cross-functionally and across all levels of the Company
  • Experience with eCommerce marketing and digital agencies and vendors
  • Demonstrated understanding of web technologies, browsers, analytics and content management systems and processes
  • Ability to analyze and assess organizational needs and provide solutions accordingly.
  • Takes initiative and has impeccable follow-up skills
  • Ability to use strategic thinking and problem solving skills to create new strategies, build business cases, and win stakeholder buy-in
  • Passion for speed, accuracy and simplicity
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work both in startup environments and within a large organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of costing and product life cycle a plus
